Cyber security
Cyber security is a crucial consideration in the deployment of media technology. The DPP has explored the topic through our insight reports, events, and more.
The DPP State of Media Technology Security 2024
The DPP State of Media Technology Security 2024 is an upcoming insight project exploring how media and technology organisations have responded to the evolving security and threat landscape. Where are CISOs putting their investments, what are the major vulnerabilities in production and distribution, and what are the best practices for remote production, protecting outside broadcasts and securing cloud-based operations?
It will investigate how content providers and technology vendors are approaching security, and how all organisations working together represents the best way to protect the entire media tech supply chain and ecosystem.
The DPP State of Media Technology Security 2024 is supported by Lead sponsor Ross Video.

Committed to Security
For a number of years, the DPP operated a cyber security assessment programme called Committed to Security. It offered a simple way for suppliers of all kinds to assess themselves against baseline requirements aligned to the needs of broadcasters and the content creation community.
However, as the industry has evolved, its needs have changed. Media workflows have become more software and IT based, meaning that cross-industry standards like ISO/IEC 27001 have become more relevant. And for content security, programmes such as Trusted Partner Network have developed to offer new self-assessment options. There are also excellent government backed programmes, such as CyberEssentials which is available in both the UK and the USA.
We believe that DPP members are best served by converging on these relevant certifications, and so Committed to Security is no longer offered as an assessment. In addition, we encourage members to continue engaging in the conversation about best practices and priorities through DPP events and insight.
